Strawberry Panic | Episode 03 | Attic

Its time for more fun with lesbian stalkers! It's time for more fun with silver haired girls being thrwarted in kissing other girls! It's time for more ridiculously moe characters! Yes it's time for more Strawberry Panic!

Whether or not I am supposed to be or not, from the moment SP starts to the moment it ends I'm in stitches. From the moment Tamao-chan attaches herself to Nagisa at the start of this episode I began laughing once more and didn't stop till Mai Nakahara and Ai Shimizu started their by now mildly irritating "Himitsu Dolls" song at the end.

Nagisa is being shown around the school by Tamao and yet another ambiguously gay duo of characters who appear to live in the room next to Nagisa and Tamao. It isn't long of course Shizuma appears to spice things up and grab Nagisa as she so often does. The dialogue at this point ranges from really, really suggestive to really, really, really suggestive. With so much flirting going on I had half a mind to throw some cold water over the entire group of them to calm the situation down. The fact that anime isn't actually real and thus I couldn't do so struck me soon after, but fortunately the plot was on hand to solve this dilemma. Shizuma is evidently being looked for by some people, and their appearance causes her to eventually make an exit. So after such a heated moment the other girls decide to do the sensible thing and play hide and seek.

None of the cast could forsee what happens next though.., and epic battle arises as Nagisa wanders into the wrong room while looking for the other girls! In the student councils chamber she stands facing a new rival!
Pictured below, two champions stepped into the arena, one with eyes the size of a babies head, the other with frilly ribbons adorning her hair. What was to transpire was to be forever known as...
"THE BATTLE OF MOE!"
Of course that dosen't actually happen. The frilly ribboned girl here is actually the student council president of one of the other schools, who Nagisa promplty goes all fangirly over. Its explained to Nagisa and Tamao that Shizuma has been neglecting her duties as Etoile! Shock! Horror! You mean randomly molesting other students isn't on her list of duties?

Remember this girl! Nagisa saves her from falling over which means she will probably develop a psychotic crush on her at some point in the series. The best bet at this school is not to touch anyone ever, or they will fall in love with you.

Anyway to cut a long story short Nagisa decides to find "Etoile" and get her to take part in a ceremony to greet the first years. Nagisa searches high and low for her seeming to barge randomly into other girls bedrooms and the like, but we all know she was going to find her and be molested by her from the moment she begins looking for her really.

And anyone who thought that would happen, would be right. Shizuma does her usual "make the Uke turn to jelly" thing, but likes Nagisa enough to agree to come to the meeting. Nagisa is the only girl to ever persuade her to do something like that! "Now things are going to get fun! Apparently, which probably means even more totally over the top yuri scenes. Hooray!

Despite me having a lot of fun blogging this series in a silly way, there is a plot developing here. References to Shizuma's "illness" take place at one point which hints at something darker and the school who wear white uniforms (name escapes me), seem to have a rather sinister council. Will there be drama and angst ahead for Nagisa and Shizuma? Will they actually ever kiss? Well we won't find out in episode four because it's about three other cast members!

    White school -> Spica. ^^

    I'm following this series because of the same reasons as you - I find it too amusing (I couldn't stop myself from LOL at certain scenes)! It's doing a great job of being a parody of some sorts. :p

    Ah yes... Somehow, I find the Nagisa X Shizuma pairing lacking dynamics as the supposedly "main" couple. Maybe Shizuma will get her gohobi later. ;p

    On another note, I'm looking forward to my favorite couple of the series

    SPOILER
    *
    *
    *
    Prince Amane of Spica and her Shimako clone, Hikari

    Best couple with the sweetest story, imho (As long as the writers don't screw it up). Hopefully, we'll get to see some hints about their relationship (love triangle involving a third person, Yaya) in the next episode. ^^

    SPOILER ENDS

    By the way, great review and keep 'em coming! :)

    PS. Sorry for the multiple posts coz all of my previous comments were cut off at some random part. ^^;;;

    SPOILER

    Ah, how silly of me to left this out... Amane is the girl with short blue hair (She's often depicted with that white horse), whereas Hikari has sandy colored long curls (She's shown in the episode preview).

    SPOILER ENDS

    Looking forward to your next review on Ep 4! ^___^

    Dont worry about the posts being cut off! I've been reading the manga a little myself of late and I'm actually quite looking forward to the story shift next episode. Im aware of the love triangle element to three Spica characters it seems we will see next episode and it should prove for some good (read funny) viewing. Ya-Ya seems a fairly interesting character from what I've read/seen so far on her.

    Glad your looking forward to my episode 4 review!
